Position Overview:  
Al-Monitor, the trusted and award-winning independent source of Middle East news and analysis, is seeking a dynamic Social & Multimedia Editor to amplify digital visibility and online community across all digital platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for execution of our social and multimedia strategy, publishing original and creative content on a daily basis. This role demands an eye on Middle East news and understanding of the digital information landscape, online platform trends, video production, marketing analytics and imaginative storytelling. This position will report to the Senior News Editor, while working closely with the marketing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Produce engaging and relevant content for various social platforms including but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram, BlueSky, LinkedIn, Youtube, Telegram and TikTok. This includes working with journalists and the editorial team to build social media content, including video, for breaking news, exclusives, features, etc across all platforms. You will fully own and drive the content production.
  • Strategy: Develop and implement an overarching social media strategy that aligns with the company’s brand, goals, and target audience. This will include multimedia components such as video, reels, and other media formats, targeted to amplify Al-Monitor content with engaging copy or video or livestreams.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Monitor, analyze, and report on performance metrics to inform decisions and drive optimization.
  • Platform Management: Stay updated with the latest developments in social media. Determine which platforms are most relevant for our brand and ensure our presence is optimal.
  • Engagement: Grow traffic and leads across social network platforms.
  • Community Management: Monitor and engage with followers, responding to queries in a timely manner and monitor customer reviews.
  • Ad Campaigns: Work with Marketing Director on paid social campaigns, ensuring they meet objectives and deliver ROI.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of social media creation, management and content distribution experience, with a track record of success. News organization experience preferred.
  • Deep understanding of platforms like Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels. 
    Enthusiasm for journalism, with the drive to compete to be the most influential regarding the relevant trendsetting issues in the Middle East. 
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media, and/or display advertising campaigns.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork, work under tight deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Middle East experience is a plus.
